Wednesday June 30th  Logan:

Today was a wonderful day on the water.  It was flowing at 6500 cfs and was sunny all day.  The water temp is up to 70 degrees!!  The air temp reached the mid 70’s, however, the wind chilled it down.  We had a camp group from Monmouth that had a blast, leaving with smiles on their faces…..

Tuesday June 29  Rich

Today at Magic Falls we had a spectacular day.  The water was running at a thrilling 6200 cfs.  We had Robin Hood Camp, who had a fantastic time.  We also had Ben Walker and his family from Virginia.  Ben went the whole way and his wife and son, Pete, went half way.  They had the time of their lives.  Ben, next time, time your breathing.  Pete wants to become a guide.  I think he’ll be a good one.  Thanks to all for a bright and sunny adventure.  Hope to see you all soon.

Saturday June 26th Sara S.

It was a beautiful Saturday on the Kennebec River.  We had 16 rafts in the raft pod and no one flipped their raft.  I had a group from Vermont, The McCrillis Group….  They were great people whose company was awesome!!!!  Jen my front left paddler, paddled harder than her boyfriend Josh, who was sitting on the front right beside her.  GO JEN!!!!!

Wednesday June 23  Joe Fecteau

Awesome trip today.  I took Chantelle, Sabrina, Jinni, Monica, and Dave down the river today.  It was a little cloudy, not too much rain though.  Temperature was good, and the water is warming up nicely as well.  They were all veteran rafters except for Jinni, who had fun.  Maybe next time it will be YOU!

Monday June 21st.   Sara

Summer is here!!!  With the threat of early morning rain clouds behind us, our 13 boat trip made its descent down the mighty Kennebec Gorge.  Our guests from Kingsley Pines were a treat and great sports with regard to swimming (both voluntary and involuntary as it was).   We’re psyched to kick off summer solstice with such a great trip and can’t wait to see what’s in store for the rest of the season.

June 20 Bob

Great day with the US Coast Guard out of Rockland, Maine.  They were up for anything, even after two days on the river.  Thanks guys for a great day

June 14 Joe Fecteau

This is Joe Fecteau here again at Magic Falls Rafting.  This is my first blog this year.  I’m back again this year full time.  Doing a lot of rafting trips.  I had a great time with the junior class from Maranacook High School.  A great bunch of kids.  It was a little rainy, but it was a great trip nonetheless.  Talk to you next time.

P.S.  I apologize to Chantel and the other girls from the Winslow Field Hockey team.  They requested me as a guide and I just couldn’t be on the river that day.  But I hope to catch you in the fall!

June 13  Nate Jones

Good trip today.  I took some local folks from Winslow, Maine down the river today.  The river was flowing at 5000 cfs and we had a great time.

June 11th Chris D.

Today was a beautiful overcast day.  We had a great hit at Big MaMA and we spent the afternoon on the lower river having water fights and playing.

June 9th  Rod

The REAL School had a two boat trip with 5000 CFS, a blue sky, a sense of adventure, and a go for it attitude!  What more did we need???  Well, a few Velcro seat cushions would have been good… Nate had one swimmer at Magic, I had two at Dead Stream Rapid, and two in the lower section of Black Brook Rapid!   Zero bumps or bruises, so it was all good, wet fun!

Now for the important news – I nailed all my surfs!  All the names of the surf holes seemed to have changed since I started surfing them back in the 80’s, so I’ll give it a whirl at using the current names in vogue.  Endless Summer (the one above Dead Stream) was endless.  Whoop-Dee-Do (the one above Black Brook) sucked the bow under a few times so we had the Jacuzzi thing going, and that’s wicked good fun!  Jacuzzi – the only one that’s still got the same name we had for it back in the 80’s was not very sticky, but we got it!

It was truly a Magical day !!!

June 7th Nate

I had a great day yesterday, June 7th on the Kennebec River with Wende, Joan, Diane and Sally; who were having a college class reunion.  Sun was shining and the water was high.  After the trip, we enjoyed a great meal, that I still enjoy even after having the same thing every day.  I hope they come back next year!!!!

 June 6th  Danika;  Guide Training

The week began on a Friday evening.  We got settled into our temporary home in a nice patch of woods on Magic Falls campground.  After meeting our trainers and filling out some paperwork, it was official; we were”Magic Falls” guide trainees of 2010.  The week was a blur.  It was filled with nerves, tired muscles, “ALL AHEAD…oh wait,  ALL BACK”, and of course, lots of stairs.  We can’t forget some rain and a lot of rocks when we ran the river at low water.  The days were filled with learning.  They started at 7 am and ended only after hours of paddling and learning about the water, raft care, laws, and much more.  After eight long days, we could proudly look at each other and say we made it.  One last obstacle before being an official Maine rafting guide is a written exam.  About half of the group has taken it and passed with flying colors, and I’m sure the others will as well when their time comes.  It really was a great week.  There are more smiles than anything at the end of it, and we definitely owe a huge THANK YOU to all of those from Magic Falls that Made it possible.
